Ed Langham Named New Strength and Conditioning Coach
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo Athletic Director Jim Herlihy announced Thursday the hiring of Ed Langham as the strength and conditioning coach at UM. This is a new position for the department and will help bolster the efforts of the coaches and athletic training staff.
Langham spent the past year as a volunteer assistant coach with the Montevallo baseball team. Prior to his time at Montevallo he spent 10 years as head coach of the baseball team at Bevill State Community College. He ended his career at BSCC with the most wins in program history. He had 20 All-Conference players and 24 Academic All-Americans. Six of his players were drafted following their time at BSCC.
He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as the IDEA Health and Fitness Association. He holds four certifications including Primary Personal Trainer Certification Level 1, Advanced Personal Trainer Certification Level 2, Advanced Nutrition Certification Level 3 Practitioner and Advanced Group Certification Level 4 Master Practitioner.
He was a two-sport athlete at the University of Alabama-Birmingham in football and baseball but then transferred to the University of Alabama where he played football for one season.
He received his bachelor’s degree in human performance for the University of Alabama in 1999 and is currently working on his master’s in higher education and is scheduled to graduate in May of 2011.
He is married to his wife, Dana, and they live in Hoover, Ala.
