Marcelo Galafassi, the University of Montevallo Head Athletic Trainer, enters his fourth year as a member of the Falcons' athletic training staff.

Galafassi previously served as Associate Athletic Trainer for the Falcons.

Galafassi works with the Montevallo men's soccer, women's soccer and baseball teams, along with the Falcons' men's and women's cross country teams.

A native of Jundiai, Brazil, Galafassi came to the University of Montevallo in June 2010 after spending two years as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Arkansas State University. Galafassi has been a Board Certified Athletic Trainer since December of 2008 and is also certified instructor by the American Red Cross in First aid/CPR/AED. Galafassi also serves as an adjunct professor in the Department of Kinesiology since 2010.

Galafassi was the Certified Athletic Trainer for baseball at Arkansas State for two seasons and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science in May 2010. He was also an Approved Clinical Instructor at Arkansas State.

Prior to Arkansas State, Galafassi spent four years at Lincoln Memorial University where he was a two-sport athlete in men’s tennis and men’s soccer.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2008 from Lincoln Memorial. He was named the 2007-2008 Lincoln Memorial Athletic Training Student of the Year.

Galafassi is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association as well as the Alabama Athletic Trainers Association.

Lauren Korte is entering her second year as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Montevallo.

Korte spent the previous two years at Presbyterian College as an Intern Athletic Trainer.

Korte works with the Montevallo men's basketball, women's basketball and women's tennis teams, along with the Falcons' men's and women's cross country teams.

A native of Port Saint Lucie, FL , Korte graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Kinesiology in 2008 from Lincoln Memorial University. She earned a Master of Arts in Health, Physical Education and Recreation with a concentration in Exercise Physiology and Athletic Administration in 2010 from the University of South Dakota.

Korte served as the athletic trainer for volleyball, women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s tennis at Presbyterian College. Prior to PC, she spent two years at University of South Dakota where she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. While at USD she worked with football, softball, volleyball, swimming & diving as well as track & field.

She is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association as well as the Alabama Athletic Trainers’ Association.

Kathleen Simone is entering her first season as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Montevallo.

Simone works with the Montevallo women's volleyball and women's track and field teams, along with the Falcons' men's and women's cross country teams.

Simone came to Montevallo from Columbus State University, where she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years. While at Columbus State, Simone worked with the men's and women's cross country teams, softball team and women's basketball team.

Simone graduated in 2013 with a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Health and Physical Education.

Simone, who grew up in Palm Harbor, Fla., completed her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training at the University of South Florida in 2011.

While at South Florida, Simone worked with the football team, men's basketball team and men's and women's track and field teams.

Simone is a certified Health and Physical Education teacher as well as a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association.

         
 

Ed Langham

Ed Langham is entering his fourth year as the University of Montevallo Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Langham works with all 12 Montevallo athletic teams, plus the cheerleading squad, and more than 250 student-athletes.

Langham is a professional member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He also serves as a member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Association, the International Fitness Education Association, the International Fitness Association, the American Fitness Association, the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association and the Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association.

Langham is a certified personal trainer, master practitioner, nutrition advisor, groups exercise instructor, and aqua instructor and specialist by Fitour. He is also certified as a personal trainer by the International Board of Fitness and Exercise.

Langham is certified in group fitness, boot camp instruction, personal training, martial arts, strength and conditioning, health club management, sports nutrition, and sports specific training by the American Sports and Fitness Association.

Langham is also certified in personal training, aerobics instruction, sports nutrition and aqua fitness instruction by the International Fitness Association.

Langham is also a certified professional in health club management and personal training by Expert Rating. He is also certified as a pool and spa operator by the National Swimming Pool Foundation.
