ALISA CARTER
Volleyball

2000 UM Hall of Fame Inductee, Alisa Carter originally came to the University of Montevallo from Ramsay High School (Birmingham, AL) on a basketball scholarship, despite never playing high school ball. As a freshman she averaged 10.7 points and 6.5 rebounds a game. During her second year at UM she returned to the volleyball court, playing four years on teams that amassed a record of 149-42 (.780) under Judy Green. Alisa immediately provided the Lady Falcon volleyball team with a powerful left-handed threat.

Carter was a three-time All-District 27 player, earning honors following the 1990-92 seasons. Touted as the premier right side player in the NAIA, Carter reached her peak during the 1992 season. During her senior campaign, she led a 41-9 squad to their 11th straight NAIA National Tournament appearance. Carter also earned First Team All-American honors from the AVCA, ASICS Tiger and NAIA, becoming only the second player in school history to earn the All-American trio.

Alisa Carter finished her career at Montevallo listed among the top five in career kills (1237), career blocks (401), career hitting percentage (.309) and hitting percentage in a season (.360). She currently ranks in the top ten in all those categories along with career block solos (85) and career attacks (2792).

NATE DRIGGERS
Men's Basketball

2000 UM Hall of Fame Inductee, Nate Driggers finished his basketball career at Montevallo as the most dominant player in UM history. Nate came to Montevallo from Corliss High School (Chicago, IL), making an immediate impact his freshman season. Driggers was the team's second leading scorer and leading rebounder as a freshman under Rob Spivery. Driggers stepped up his play as a sophomore, leading the team to a 20-plus win season while averaging 19.7 points and 7.1 rebounds. He was the only NAIA First Team All-American selected as a sophomore and also garnered Southern States Conference Player and Male Athlete of the Year awards, leading the conference in scoring, rebounding and shooting percentage.

After an injury-riddled junior season, Driggers returned more focused than ever for his senior campaign. A versatile player, Driggers played at both forward spots and shooting guard during the 1994-95 season. With an increased role and the team on his back, Nate stepped up his production, averaging 28.4 points and 10.8 rebounds. He also led the team in three-point percentage, making 48-of-108 attempts (.444). During his senior season, Nate burned the Arkansas Razorbacks for 37 points to set a record for scoring by an opponent at Arkansas' Bud Walton Arena. Following the 1994-95 season, Driggers was named NAIA First Team All-American, Southern States Conference Player of the Year and the 1994-95 NAIA Player of the Year.

Nate Driggers finished his career at Montevallo ranked first in the record books in career points (2054), scoring average (19.8), field goals (306) and free throws (386). His season highs of 825 points and 28.4 points per game in 1994-95 also sit atop the school rankings. After his senior season, he was drafted second overall in the CBA draft.

STEVE SMITHERMAN
Baseball

2000 UM Hall of Fame Inductee, Steve Smitherman posted arguably the best back-to-back seasons in UM baseball history in his two years at Montevallo. Smitherman posted a 5-1 record as a freshman at the University of Alabama before transferring to Montevallo in the fall of 1982. The most dominating dual-role player to ever play at Montevallo, Steve was the team's designated hitter and a starting pitcher.

In his first season, Smitherman posted an 8-6 record while sporting a 2.05 E.R.A. and a .365 batting average. He set school records for both home runs (19) and strikeouts by a pitcher (90) in 1983. His 2.05 E.R.A. is currently third all-time and his three shutouts in 1983 were second all-time. Smitherman earned All-District, All-Conference and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American honors after the season.

In 1984, Smitherman posted a 6-1 record on the mound and batted .373 with 20 home runs and 63 runs batted in. The 20 homers broke his one-season mark from the previous year. Steve was selected NAIA District 27 Player of the Year and was tabbed an NAIA Second Team All-American.

Smitherman ranks first in the Falcon record books in career slugging percentage (.802), third in both career homeruns (39) and career earned run average (2.76) and tied for fourth in career shutouts (3), despite playing only two years at UM. He also owns the UM single-game records for home runs (3) and total bases (12), totaling both versus the University of Alabama in Birmingham on March 3, 1983.
