BETHANY FORSLUND
Women's Basketball

2003 University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Bethany Forslund was one of the best post players to wear a Falcon uniform. In her four years at UM, she was on teams that posted a record of .765 winning percentage (91-28), won two NAIA District 27 championships, and participated in back-to-back NAIA National Tournaments. A four-time NAIA All District 27 selection, Bethany still holds the school single-game record for blocked shots in a game (12) against Auburn-Montgomery in her freshman season, and is among the school's all-time leaders in several offensive categories. She held the all-time record for rebounding until 1993, when her record was eventually broken by fellow UM Hall of Fame member Sheena Bowling. Bethany is currently second all-time in field goals made (742) attempts (1,512), and now second in career blocked shots (327), a record she held until this past season. A 1993 graduate from UM in Education, Bethany currently resides in Prattville, Alabama.


BERNARD HUTCHISON
Baseball

2003 University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Bernard Hutchison was one of the fastest players to don a Falcon uniform. A two-time NAIA All-American selection, Bernard remains the all-time leader in stolen bases in a single season (59) and career (114). He posted an .884 percentage in stolen bases in his two-year career with the Falcon baseball team. Bernard posted a .410 career batting average, and was named NAIA First Team All-American in 1996 and Honorable Mention in 1995. He went on to play professional baseball, after being drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 22nd round of the 1996 amateur baseball draft. He is one of ten players and coaches to have his jersey number (2) retired. An Education major, Bernard currently resides in Tallassee, Alabama.


CLINT ROPER
Men's Soccer

2003 University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Clint Roper was one of finest players to compete for the men's soccer program. Roper was a part of the first UM teams that competed in the Gulf South Conference and NCAA Division II competition. In 1996, Roper was the Co-MVP at the Gulf South Conference Affiliated Tournament and was named to the First Team All-Gulf South Conference. In 1997, Roper once again was named to the First Team All-GSC, and was a GSC All-Tournament selection. Guiding the Falcons from the midfield in his two years at UM, Roper helped the Falcons to two Gulf South Conference Tournament appearances. Clint went on to play professionally up to this day in his native South Africa. Clint received his degree from UM in Management in 1998.

HELEN PERKINS
Meritorious Service

2003 University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Helen Perkins was a long-time vocal supporter of the Falcon athletic programs. Helen graduated from Sydney Lanier High School in Montgomery and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and Television from the University of Alabama. While at the university she met her future husband, Karl Perkins. In 1964 Helen and Karl volunteered for the Mission Field with the Presbyterian Churchm U.S. for service in Brazil. After some political instability in Brazil in 1969 they were forced to close thier work with Brazilian radio stations and return to the U.S. In 1970 Karl took a position with the University of Montevallo as Director of ETV. In 1971 Helen took a position in the Math and Physics Department as a part-time secretary. She was made Graduate Registrar, a position she held until 1988 when she became Registrar. During her tenure as Registrar she also became the Compliance Officer for the University Athletic programs in the NAIA and later the NCAA. Helen was the ultimate fan. In 2000 Helen retired from the University and moved to a position with SCT as Project Coordinator where she served until her death on Nov. 10, 2001. She is inducted posthumously into the University of Montevallo Athletic Hall of Fame.
