MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women’s basketball team would like to turn Bank Trust Arena pink on Saturday, February 18 at 1:30 p.m. for their annual Play 4Kay Breast Cancer Awareness game. The Falcons will honor survivors at the game and will also be hosting a silent auction with the proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Some of the items featured in the auction are hotel stays, movie tickets and autographed Alabama apparel.

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Montevallo women’s cross country team had four runners named to the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Women’s Cross Country All-Academic list for the 2011 season. Junior Haley Evans (Fairhope, Ala./Fairhope), sophomore In-Mi Matsunaga (Enterprise, Ala./Enterprise), freshman Lauren Recchia (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) and senior Katherine Schofield (Gainesville, Ga./Brookwood) were named to the list.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo athletic department had 62 student-athletes named to either the President’s List or Dean’s List at Montevallo for the Fall 2011 semester. Men’s soccer led all Montevallo teams with nine athletes being named to the two lists while volleyball and women’s soccer tied for second with eight total student-athletes. To be named to the President’s List a student must compile a 3.8 GPA or higher for the semester while a 3.5 or higher earns the student a mention on the Dean’s List. Baseball, men’s soccer and women’s cross country led the way on the President’s List with five student-athletes each while men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball led the way on the Dean’s List with four student-athletes each.

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – The University of Montevallo men’s golf team finished 11th at the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate in Panama City Beach, Fla. The Falcons were led by junior Andrew Lowry (Decatur, Ala./Wallace State C.C.) who shot a two round score of 158 good for 34th overall. The Falcons finished ahead of Peach Belt Conference rival North Georgia College and State University who came in 14th while PBC foe Flagler tied for the lead and Columbus State University finished fourth.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Montevallo baseball team (2-2) evened up its record with a 16-9 victory on the road at Stillman College (0-1). The Falcons compiled 16 hits including nine for extra bases while scoring 16 runs. Junior Andrew Hill (Helena, Ala./Pelham), freshman Zack Willoughby (Boaz, Ala./Boaz) and junior Austin Dubberly (Helena, Ala./Pelham) led the Falcons with three hits each. Hill was 3-for-4 with a double, three RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Willoughby was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored while Dubberly was 3-for-6 with a double, a triple, three RBI and three runs scored.
