Montevallo Drops Fog Shortened Contest with UAH, 14-0
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo baseball team (21-18-1, 3-9 GSC East) fell for the third-straight time to the University of Alabama-Huntsville (21-8, 4-4 GSC East), 14-0. The game only lasted six innings after fog rolled over the field and made it impossible for the outfielders to make any plays. The Chargers wasted little time jumping on the Falcons who had spent the entire afternoon working on preparing the field for play.
UAH scored two runs in the first and then exploded in the third with a nine run inning before finishing their scoring in the fourth with a three-spot.
Freshman Dustin Daugherty (Hoover, Ala./Hoover), junior Andy Revell (Albertville, Ala./Snead State C.C.) and senior Ryan Norman (Hoover, Ala./Hoover) all went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead the Falcons. Senior Brandon Aldridge (Vestavia Hills, Ala./Vestavia Hills) took home the loss on the mound going 2.1 innings while striking out one.
Sophomore Mat Turner (Louisville, Ky./Labette C.C.) was the most effective pitcher for the Falcons as he went the final 2.0 innings while striking out two and holding the Chargers hitless.
The Falcons will return to action tomorrow, April 6 at 6:30 p.m. as they take on the Birmingham Barons in an exhibition contest at Regions Park in Hoover, AL.
