2009... Competed in 24 games while starting 21... missed time due to injury... had a .266 batting average with two doubles and a homerun... picked up nine RBI and was a perfect 4-for-4 when stealing bases... had 45 putouts and 45 assists on defense... had a season-high two hits in four different games... drove in a season-high two runs against Georgia Southwestern (2/2) and West Georgia (4/10).  

2008... Competed in 27 games while starting 11... had a .238 batting average and was second on the team with three triples... had four RBIs and picked up a season-high two hits against Bellarmine on March 12... had five stolen bases including two against Stillman College on February 10.  

2007... Appeared in 32 games while starting four... had a .261 batting average while hitting one double and walking once... had five stolen bases including two versus West Alabama on March 24... had two hits against both St. Joseph's and West Alabama.

Was a Second Team All-County selection and Key Scholar, while competing for coach Bob Pagano at Walter L. Sickles High School in Tampa, Fla.

Son of Nyra Velasco and Nelson Garcia, Sr.... has a sister, Alexis... a business management major... born November 8, 1987... his father Nelson, Sr. played baseball at Montevallo from 1980-82.
