Falcons Fall to Flagler, 11-3
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo baseball team (12-30, 5-16 PBC) fell in the final game of a three-game series to Flagler College (21-18, 9-9 PBC), 11-3. UM was led by senior Andy Revell (Albertville, Ala./Albertville) who went 2-for-2 with a run scored and a walk.
Junior Josh Dabbs (Hueytown, Ala./Hueytown) and sophomore Duston Daugherty (Hoover, Ala./Hoover) each went 2-for-4. Dabbs added a run scored as well. Senior Chris Sosebee (Warrior, Ala./Sumiton Christian), freshman Chandler Tyree (Oxford, Ala./Oxford) and senior Kevin Garcia (Vega Baja, Puerto Rico/Dunedin) all picked up one RBI each.
Sophomore Wes Rich (Pelham, Ala./Pelham) took the hill for the Falcons and went 6.0 innings while striking out two and walking five. He was relieved by senior John Michael Caraway (Trussville, Ala./Clay-Chalkville) who went 2.1 innings and struck out one and walked one. Caraway took home the loss as his record fell to 3-5 on the season. The final pitcher for the Falcons was senior Caleb McLeod (Pleasant Grove, Ala./Pleasant Grove) who went 0.2 innings with a strikeout.
The Saints struck first in the second inning as they hit a solo homerun to left field. Sosebee answered right back in the bottom of the inning as he led off with an opposite field shot over the right field fence.
UM took the lead in the third as Garcia singled home Revell who had reached on a single to the shortstop. The Saints tied the game in the fourth as they used a walk and a single to plate one run.
The Falcons retook the lead in the sixth as Tyree singled home Dabbs to give the Falcons a 3-2 advantage.
The Saints exploded in the seventh as they scored four runs off of four hits and the again in the ninth as they scored five runs off of seven hits.
The Falcons will return to action Tuesday, April 13 at 6 p.m. as they host Delta State University in non-conference action.
