Three Falcons Named to PBC All-Academic Teams
AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo baseball team was awarded three players on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Teams. Sophomore Josh Headley (Gardendale, Ala./Gardendale) was named First Team All-Academic while sophomore Duston Daugherty (Hoover, Ala./Hoover) and senior Chris Sosebee (Warrior, Ala./Sumiton Christian) picked up Third Team nods.
These were the first PBC All-Academic honors for the baseball program in their first season as member of the Peach Belt Conference. This is the first All-Academic team nod for all three players in either the PBC or the Gulf South Conference.
Headley holds a 3.82 GPA in chemistry at Montevallo while Daugherty has a 3.32 GPA in kinesiology and Sosebee holds a 3.24 GPA in finance.
The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
