Former Falcon Signs Minor League Contract with Atlanta Braves

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Former University of Montevallo pitching standout Nate Russ (2007-08) recently signed a professional contract to play in the Atlanta Braves organization. He is currently playing for the Gulf Coast League Braves in Orlando, Fla. The GCL Braves is the rookie squad for the Atlanta organization.

He has pitched in three games, garnered a save while striking out three and giving up only three hits. Most recently he closed out a 14-10 win over the GCL Yankees on July 12 where he pitched one inning, gave up one hit and struck out one. Recently his hometown newspaper wrote a feature on Russ.
