Flowers Named GSC East Division Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior forward Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) of the University of Montevallo men's basketball team (8-9, 1-1 GSC East) was named Gulf South Conference East Division Player of the Week. Flowers earns his first-ever accolade, leading UM to a 1-1 mark in a pair of league contests by averaging 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in 30.5 minutes. He also shot 61.1 percent from the field and 80.0 percent from the charity stripe.

The junior began the week notching his fifth double-double of the season behind 12 points and 12 rebounds in a 74-65 victory at West Georgia. The Waldorf, Md. native closed the week, scoring 14 of his team-high 18 points in the first half in a 75-72 loss at North Alabama. He also pulled down six rebounds and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line in 28 minutes versus the Lions.

Flowers and the rest of the Falcons will return to action Thursday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m. as they take on the University of Alabama-Huntsville in GSC East Division action.
