Flowers Named GSC East Division Player of the Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Junior forward Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) of the University of Montevallo men's basketball team (11-10, 3-2 GSC East) was named Gulf South Conference East Division Player of the Week. Flowers takes home his second award in three weeks after leading UM to a 2-0 home record last week. The junior averaged 20.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in 28.5 minutes, while shooting 56.5 percent from the field and 93.8 percent from the foul line.

The Waldorf, Md. native played just 24 minutes in a 79-69 victory over West Florida, pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds and adding 18 points behind an 8-for-8 effort at the charity stripe. Flowers saved his best for last in a 79-63 triumph over Valdosta State, leading all players with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Flowers and the rest of the Falcons will return to action Thursday, Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. as they travel to the University of West Alabama for a GSC East Division match-up.
