Lions Hand Falcons Loss, 80-67
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo men's basketball team (13-12, 4-4 GSC East) fell 80-67 at home against the University of North Alabama (16-8, 6-3 GSC East). The Falcons were led by junior Freddy Little (Raleigh, North Carolina) who poured in 16 points while grabbing five boards.
Junior Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) scored 12 points while securing three rebounds and senior Terrill Humphrey (St. Augustine, Florida) scored 10 points. Junior point guard Dorian Evans (Apalachicola, Florida) had a team-high eight assists while senior Andre McMillan (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) and junior Gerald January (Macon, Georgia) each scored eight points. McMillan added sour assists while January chipped in five rebounds and three blocks.
The Falcons trailed from buzzer to buzzer as the Lions opened the game up with a three-pointer and never looked back. The Falcons kept it within 10 points for the first seven minutes but the Lions gradually built their lead to as much as 15 in the first. The Falcons were able to cut it to just nine at halftime, 38-29.
The Lions quickly built up a 19-point lead early in the second half. Down by 17 with 13:19 remaining the Falcons went on a 10-2 run to cut the lead to just nine but the Lions responded and kept a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
The Falcons return to action Saturday, Feb. 14 at 3:00 p.m. as they host the University of West Georgia.
