Follow the Falcons throughout the GSC Tournament

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo men's and women's basketball teams have both been awarded spots in the Gulf South Conference Basketball Tournament. The women will take to the court first as they play on Wednesday, March 4 at 12:30 p.m. against Ouachita Baptist University. The men will follow suit at 2:45 p.m. on March 4 against the University of Arkansas-Monticello.
All the tournament games will be offered on Penn Atlantic for viewers to watch or you can follow the action through live stats located on the tournament homepage.

The women open up against a familiar foe in the No. 4 seed from the west division, Ouachita Baptist University. The Falcons played a home-and-home series with OBU and split with the Tigers. The Falcons won the first meeting at home 71-68 before dropping the road contest 82-68.
In the two meetings the Falcons were led by junior Alicia Lewis (Youngsville, Louisiana) who averaged 14.5 points per game against the Tigers while junior forward Manal Cali (Northampton, England) scored 10.5 ppg. The Falcons out-rebounded OBU 89-66 over the two games and out shot the Tigers 41.6 percent to 36.1 percent.
The Tigers were led by freshman guard A'Laeshia Adams who averaged 17.5 points per game in the two meetings while freshman Domino Miller and senior Haley Griffin each scored 11.0 ppg.
The men take on the No. 4 seed from the west, the University of Arkansas-Monticello. The Falcons have played UAM twice this season falling in both contests. The series opened with a game at Montevallo in which the Boll Weevils won 67-53. A month later the Falcons traveled to Monticello to take on UAM at home and fell 71-62.
The Falcons played even with the Boll Weevils in the second half as they each scored 63 in the second halves of each game. It was the first half where UAM took advantage as they outscored the Falcons 75-52 in the first stanza of action.
UM was led by juniors Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) and Freddy Little (Raleigh, North Carolina) in the two contests as they scored 13.5 and 13.0 points per game, respectively. Flowers led the team on the boards as well as he grabbed 5.5 boards per game.
On the Boll Weevils side they were led by senior center Raymond Wright who scored 25.5 points per game while grabbing 12.0 rebounds per game. Junior forward Derek Easter chipped in 11.5 points per game as well. The Boll Weevils used a strong inside presence to defeat the Falcons in both contests.
