Falcons Suffer First Home Loss of the Season, 99-87
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo men's basketball team (4-3) led throughout the first half but let that lead slip away in the second falling 99-87 to Delta State University (2-1). The Falcons were led by junior Freddy Little (Raleigh, North Carolina) who hit six three-pointers while scoring a game-high 27 points.
Junior Anthony Brown (Birmingham, Alabama) chipped in a season-high 23 points and grabbed six rebounds. Junior Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) had a team-high nine rebounds while scoring 13 points and senior Terrill Humphrey (St. Augustine, Florida) contributed 10 points.
Junior Marcus Lancaster (Grand Rapids, Michigan) had eight points and a team-high six assists.
The Falcons led most of the first half building up an eight point lead with 5:56 left on the clock but the Statesmen never gave up as they came back to tie the score at halftime 46-46. The beginning of the second half was back and forth with the Falcons having losing the lead for the final time at the 15:10 mark as Joe McCray buried a three to tie the game at 59.
The Statesmen slowly built up their lead eventually going up by 12 with 2:28 in the game. They continued to hit their free throws down the stretch going 19-for-22 from the charity stripe in the second half.
The Statesmen out-rebounded the Falcons 35-21.
The Falcons return to action Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 4:00 p.m. as they host Emmanuel College.
