Falcons Pick Up 86-80 Win over Emmanuel

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo men's basketball team (5-3) rebounded from a tough loss and defeated Emmanuel College (6-3) 86-80. The Falcons were led by senior Terrill Humphrey (St. Augustine, Florida) who poured in 22 points and went 5-for-8 from beyond the three-point arc. Fellow senior Brian Carlyle (Atlanta, Georgia) scored 15 points and blocked a season-high seven shots.

The Falcon fell behind early and found themselves trailing 13-4 just 4:30 into the game. UM then went on a 17-0 run over the next four minutes to take an eight point lead, 21-13. The Lions fought back and gained a one-point lead with 2:34 left in the half. Once again the Falcons responded with a 9-0 run to close the half, 44-36.

In the second half the Lions inched their way back into the contest taking a one-point lead at the 11:50 mark but the Falcons would respond once again with a 12-2 run to open up the game. The Flacons continued to hang onto the lead and eventually won 86-80 with a number of clutch free throws.

Humphrey led the way for the Falcons with 22 points while junior Freddy Little (Raleigh, North Carolina) chipped in 18 points and had a team-high eight assists. Junior Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) had 16 points and nine rebounds while Carlyle chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds and seven blocks.

The Lions out-rebounded the Falcons 41-27 but were unable to turn that into a victory.

The Falcons return to action Saturday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. as they host Cumberland University.
