No. 23 Arkansas-Monticello Outlasts Montevallo, 67-53
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo men's basketball team (6-4) fell tonight (Dec. 5) at home to No. 23 University of Arkansas-Monticello (7-0), 67-53. The Boll Weevils shot an even 50 percent from the floor which proved to be the difference-maker as the Falcons only hit 31.3 percent of their shots.
Junior Nate Flowers (Waldorf, Maryland) scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Junior Freddy Little (Raleigh, North Carolina) chipped in 16 points while junior Jordan Hutchison (Hazel Green, Alabama) played a key sixth-man role picking up four steals and six rebounds.
The Falcons and Boll Weevils both struggled from three-point range with Montevallo going 3-of-19 and Arkansas-Monticello going 2-of-11. Both teams shot 83.3 percent from the free throw line with UAM taking six more attempts.
The Falcons trailed the entire game and struggled to find their three-point shot which has been their weapon all season.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow, Dec. 6 at 6:00 p.m. as they host Flagler College in the final game of the UM Winter Classic.
