January Named PBC Player of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Senior forward Gerald January (Macon, Ga./Westside) of the 24th-ranked University of Montevallo men's basketball team (16-3, 6-3 PBC) was named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week. This is the second PBC Player of the Week honor for both the team and January.

January averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds in a pair of games for the Falcons. The senior shot 70% (14-20) from the field, more than half of his rebounds were on the offensive glass and he had 2.5 blocks per game. January began the week by hitting 7-of-7 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line for 20 points with nine boards against UNC Pembroke. He then scored 20 more, grabbing 10 rebounds, in a loss to Francis Marion. January is now second in the PBC in rebounding and blocks and third in field goal percentage.

The No. 24 Falcons will return to action tomorrow, Feb. 3 at 6:30 p.m. as they travel to Columbus State University. The Cougars are 10-8 overall and 4-5 in PBC play.
