Falcons Announce 2009-10 Schedule

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo men's basketball team released its 2009-10 schedule which features five games against NCAA Division II Tournament participants, one nationally televised game, four games against teams ranked in the top-25 of the final 2008-09 NABC Division II Coaches Poll and to top it off an exhibition with the University of Alabama inside Coleman Coliseum.

The Falcons kick-off their schedule with an exhibition contest with the University of Alabama on Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. The last time the two teams met was in 2006 when the Falcons gave Alabama all it could handle falling 81-72 in an exhibition contest.

The regular season gets started Nov. 16 at home as the Falcons host Southeastern Bible College at 7:30 p.m. The team then hits the road for three straight games as they travel to Birmingham for a game against Miles College on Nov. 21 at 7:30 before heading south for the University of West Florida Classic where they will play UWF and Lynn University.

UM returns home for five-straight contests inside BankTrust Arena. The Falcons host Concordia College-Selma on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. before welcoming Eckerd College and Shaw University for the annual Coca-Cola Classic on Dec. 4 and 5. Carver Bible College is the next team on the list as the Falcons battle CBC on Dec. 9 at 5:30 p.m. Miles College comes knocking on Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m. to close out the home portion of the 2009 schedule.

The Falcons close out the 2009 year with a trip to Pensacola to take on the University of West Florida on Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. UM will open up 2010 with the Peach Belt Conference portion of its schedule as the Falcons welcome Lander University on Jan. 2 at 7:30 p.m. to open up conference play.

The Falcons then take the short trip to Georgia Southwestern for a Saturday afternoon game on Jan. 9. UM then returns home to host North Georgia College and State University on Jan. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

The Falcons start their second three-game road trip of the season on Jan. 16 as they travel to Flagler College at 2:30 p.m. before heading up the road on Jan. 18 to No. 25 Armstrong Atlantic State University who competed in the 2009 NCAA Division II Tournament. The final leg of the trip is on Jan. 20 as the Falcons take on Clayton State University at 6:30 p.m.

UM returns home to host three games-in-a-row against NCAA Tournament participant Georgia College and State University, UNC-Pembroke and Francis Marion on Jan. 23, 29 and 31. It's on the road again on Feb. 3 as the Falcons travel to Columbus State for a 6:30 contest.

Just a few days later its back home for a contest with Georgia Southwestern at 3:30. Arguably the toughest road trip of the year will be Feb 11-13 as the Falcons travel to No. 16 USC-Aiken who made it to the Sweet 16 a year ago for a 6:30 tip-off on Feb. 11 before going to No. 4 Augusta State University who was in the Final Four last season on Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. The ASU game will be televised nationally on CBS College Sports Network.

The final four games of the 2009-10 season will see the Falcons on the road twice and at home twice. UM first travels to North Georgia on Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. before hosting Clayton State University of Feb. 20 at 3:30 p.m. They then hit the road and head to GCSU for a 6:30 tip-off on Feb. 24 before closing out the season on Feb. 27 at home against Columbus State at 3:30 p.m.
