TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Montevallo men's basketball team traveled west to Tuscaloosa to take on the University of Alabama in an exhibition contest. The Falcons fell 81-53 to a talented Crimson Tide team. UM was led by senior guard Freddy Little (Raleigh, N.C./Bunn) who scored a team-high 17 points while hitting 4-of-7 three point attempts.
Junior Tauras Dortch (Ensley, Ala./Ramsay) was second on the team in points with nine. Forwards Gerald January (Macon, Ga./Westside) and Cecil Coleman (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Tech) led the team in rebounds with seven and six, respectively.
The Falcons led only once throughout the game as Little hit a three pointer on the Falcons second possession to give UM a 3-2 advantage. The Crimson Tide took over from there gaining a 14 point lead by half time, 39-25.
The second half was much like the first with the Crimson Tide outscoring the Falcons 42-28 and ending the game with a 81-53 win.
The Falcons will next be in action as they open up their regular season with a home game against Southeastern Bible College on Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
