January and Coleman Named to University of West Florida Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Senior Gerald January (Macon, Ga./Westside) and junior Cecil Coleman (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Tech) of the University of Montevallo men's basketball team (4-0) were named to the University of West Florida Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team this past weekend. January was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. The pair helped lead the Falcons to two wins over Lynn University and the University of West Florida.

January averaged a double-double at the tournament as he had 13.0 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game. In the tournament opener he scored 10 points and ripped down nine rebounds as the Falcons defeated Lynn 65-62. In the second game he scored 16 points and had 13 rebounds as Montevallo dominated West Florida 94-72. He shot 50 percent from the field and led the team in blocks with three.

Coleman averaged 13.5 points per game and 6.0 rebounds per game in the tournament. In the opener against Lynn he scored 10 points and had three rebounds while shooting 71.4 percent from the field. In the win over UWF he had 17 points and nine boards while hitting 50.0 percent of his shots. He was also a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. as they host Concordia College-Selma inside BankTrust Arena on the campus of the University of Montevallo.
