Marlon Terry is entering his second season as assistant coach for the University of Montevallo men’s basketball program. Terry spent the two seasons prior to his arrival at Montevallo with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock as the Director of Basketball Operations.

He began his collegiate coaching career at the University of Texas at El Paso as a student assistant/athlete academic assistant in 2004. There he coordinated team travel, film exchange and assisted with on the floor coaching. In 2007, he accepted a position at Angelina Junior College as the assistant men’s basketball coach and continued his stellar reputation for assuring academic success in his student athletes. In 2008, he took the position as the Director of Basketball Operations at UALR.

Terry also has experience coaching at the high school and AAU levels. He was the head coach of the Philadelphia Elite AAU Team from 1999-01 where he served as a scouting and recruiting coordinator as well. More recently, he was the head coach of the Philadelphia Lutheran Christian Academy boy’s basketball squad.

He has helped 78 players earn their high school diplomas, sent over 150 players to college and out of those 37 have realized their dream of playing professionally either overseas or in the NBA. Terry has coached three players that are currently playing in the NBA: Rob Kurz (Golden State Warriors), Matt Walsh (Miami Heat) and Pops Mensah-Bonsu (Dallas Mavericks).

Terry is a 2007 graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso with a bachelor’s degree in multidisciplinary studies.
