Falcons Drain Lakers, 80-68

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (16-6, 7-4 PBC) rolled over Clayton State University (13-7, 5-6 PBC) at home, 80-68. The Falcons trailed for just two minutes the entire game after Clayton opened the game with a three but a quick 9-0 run by the Falcons put UM in the lead for good. UM was led by senior Antoine Davis (Washington, D.C./College of the Desert) and junior Drico Hightower (Augusta, Ga./Angelina College) who each came up just short of a double-double. Davis had 20 points and nine assists while Hightower had 20 points and nine boards.

Shorthanded Falcons Fall to Georgia College, 67-59

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Without the services of the Peach Belt Conference leading scorer, D.J. Rivera (Philadelphia, Pa./Binghamton University), the University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (15-6, 6-4 PBC) fell on the road to Georgia College and State University (12-7, 5-5 PBC), 67-59. The Falcons trailed the entire game and struggled offensively throughout the contest. UM hit just 29.7 percent of its shots from the field and a dismal 11.8 percent from three-point range. UM was led by senior Antoine Davis (Washington, D.C./College of the Desert) who scored 19 points and grabbed eight boards both of which were team highs. Freshman Ryan May (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian) chipped in nine points while three others had six points each.

Falcons Overcome 18-Point Deficit at Home, 74-66

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (15-5, 6-3 PBC) trailed by as many as 18 point in the first half at home against Augusta State University (12-8, 8-4 PBC) but used a dominating 46-25 second half to take a 74-66 victory. The Falcons were led by freshman Ryan May (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian) who scored 18 points just two shy of his career high. Junior Drico Hightower (Augusta, Ga./Angelina College) added his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Antoine Davis (Washington, D.C./College of the Desert) returned to form with 15 points, six assists, four rebounds, three steals and a pair of blocks.

Falcons Fall to #24 Pacers in Overtime, 71-65

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men’s basketball team (14-5, 5-3 PBC) dropped an overtime contest to #24 USC Aiken (15-3, 9-1 PBC), 71-65. The Falcons trailed for most of the contest but kept the Pacers within their sights and used a late second half comeback to force overtime. Despite the six-point margin the entire overtime period was a battle as late free throws gave the Pacers the edge. UM was led by senior D.J. Rivera (Philadelphia, Pa./Binghamton University) who scored 19 points. Junior Marvin Fitzgerald (Milwaukee, Wisc./North Carolina Central) added 11 points and 10 boards good for a double-double.
