Hebert Ends Tournament Two-Over Par Leads Falcons to Eleventh Place Finish
MORROW, Ga. - The University of Montevallo men's golf team withstood some ups and downs to finish eleventh at the State Farm-Laker Collegiate Classic hosted by Clayton State University. Senior Danny Hebert (Chilliwack, British Columbia) led the way finishing 13th with a 218.
All tournament long the team would have up and down rounds. Hebert had brilliant second and third rounds shooting even with the tournament leader but could not overcome a tough first round 77. Junior Jon Henderson (Fort Payne, Alabama) finished second for the Falcons and 38th overall after a tough third round. He was -1 after two rounds but finished +7.
Freshman Aaron Ebert (Huron, Ohio) was the third scorer for the Falcons finishing 67th with a +14. He had a strong even par first round but succumbed to the tough course in rounds two and three. Junior Tripp Cash (Troy, Alabama) was the final scorer for the Falcons finishing in 76th place with a +18. He had an excellent second round and shot one under par but again couldn't sustain the momentum.
Overall the Falcons finished +37 and tied for 11th-place. The University of West Florida won the tournament and shot even par throughout. The other Gulf South Conference schools were Valdosta State University who finished ninth and the University of West Georgia who came in 14th.
The Falcons will be back in action Monday, October 13 as they begin play at the TVA Credit Union Classic in Florence, Ala.
