AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s golf team was awarded three spots on the Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team and was given one honorable mention. Junior Aaron Ebert (Huron, Ohio/St. Mary's Central Catholic), junior Gonzalo Gambertoglio (Cordoba, Argentina/Instituto General San Martin) and senior Ruwaldt Viljoen (Johannesburg, South Africa/Dainfern College) were named to the All-Academic Team while sophomore Mariano Lepori (Posadas, Argentina) was given an honorable mention.
Ebert holds a 3.70 GPA in accounting at Montevallo. Ebert is a two-time member of the PBC All-Academic Team after being named Second Team in 2010. Gambertoglio holds a 3.96 GPA in management at Montevallo and is also a two-time member of the All-Academic team after a Second Team slot last season. Viljoen holds a 3.66 GPA in management and this is his first PBC All-Academic selection. Lepori has a 3.79 GPA in management.
The team is part of a season-long program recognizing the outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the classroom as well as on the field. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and select the teams.
