NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Montevallo men's golf team finished 13th at the University of New Orleans Mardi Gras Invitational in New Orleans, La. The Falcons were led by junior Andrew Lowry (Decatur, Ala./Wallace State C.C.) who shot a three round score of 227 good for 31st overall. The Falcons finished ahead of Centenary College and host, UNO. The only other Peach Belt Conference school in attendance was Georgia Southwestern who finished eighth overall.
Senior Ruwaldt Viljoen (Johannesburg, South Africa/Dainfern College) shot a 233 good for 45th overall. His best round was the second as he shot at 74. Junior Mariano Lepori (Posadas, Argentina) shot a 239 good for 58th overall. Sophomore Joe Haupt (Birmingham, Ala./Shades Mountain Christian) came in fourth for the Falcons and 63rd overall with a score of 243. The final Falcon was freshman Andres Morales (Cuernavaca, Mexico/Colegio Marymount) who finished 69th overall with a score of 249.
Lowry and Viljoen tied for the lowest rounds of the tournament for the Falcons as Lowery shot a pair of 74s and Viljoen had one.
The Falcons will return to action March 12-13 at the North Georgia Invitational in Dahlonega, Georgia.
