MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men’s golf team opened up their spring season and the New Year February 1-2 at the Outback Steakhouse International in Panama City, Fla. The Falcons had a good first day with three team members finishing under 80 on the Par 72 course. Jon Henderson (Rainsville, Ala./Plainview) led on both days for the Falcons finishing the tournament +13 tying individually for 28th place. Tripp Cash (Troy, Ala./Pike) and Lee Callaway (Leeds, Ala./Leeds) also had strong performances finishing tied for 49th and 58th places individually.

DESTIN, Fla. – The University of Montevallo men’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule with a 13th place showing at the Indian Bayou Classic in Destin, Fla. The Falcons had to deal with some tough playing conditions on the first day but came back and cut six strokes of their score on the second day. UM finished ahead of Lambuth, Harding and Henderson State in the tournament.

The Falcons competed against a field full of nationally-ranked teams including No. 24 Newberry College who won the tournament.

CLEVELAND – Twenty-two Montevallo student-athletes were honored by the Division II Athletics Directors Association for their academic achievements. The student-athletes were honored with the 2008-09 DII ADA Academic Achievement Awards presented by WeatherPORT.
