Falcons Fall on the Road, 2-0
MORROW, Ga. - The University of Montevallo men's soccer team (5-5-1, 1-3-0 PBC) dropped a tough 2-0 loss on the road against Clayton State University (7-4, 3-1 PBC), 2-0. The Falcons gave up a late goal at the end of the first half and the Lakers scored another midway through the second to pull away with the victory.
Junior MilanPualic (Subotica, Serbia/Srednja Ekonosmka Skola School) led the Falcons with three shots while juniors Daniel Pelletier (Crestwood, Ky./South Oldham) and Nathaniel Foster (Brampton, Ontario/Humberview Secondary School) led the team in shots on goal with two each. Junior Robert Mueller (Kileen, Texas/Kileen) took home the loss in goal making three saves along the way.
The Falcons and Lakers played an even match for the first 43 minutes until Matty Phillips took a shot from about 20 yards out with just over 1:30 to play in the first and put the Lakers up 1-0.
The Lakers added to their lead 17 minutes into the second half as Jonathan Ray finished off a cross into the net.
CSU outshot the Falcons 15-13 but both teams were even with five shots each on net.
The Falcons return to action Sunday, Oct. 11 at 2:30 p.m. as they host USC Aiken in another Peach Belt Conference contest.
