Falcons Tied for Third in Preseason PBC Coaches Poll

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team was voted to finish tied for third in the Peach Belt Conference according to league coaches. The PBC Preseason Coaches Poll released today has the Falcons in a deadlock with Clayton State University for the third place team in the league.
UM finished fourth in the final regular season standings last season but welcome a new coaching staff in head coach Ken Hassler and assistant coach Bruce Dietterle. The Falcons also return All-Conference performers Nathaniel Foster and Milan Pualic. They also have an All-Region player returning in Austin McIntosh.
UM was 10-7-1 their first year in the PBC, 5-3 in conference play and advanced to the PBC Tournament semifinals. Foster and Pualic were both named to the preseason All-Conference team and were the top two scorers for the Falcons in 2009. In total, eight starters return from last season’s team including the top four point scorers.
UM opens up their preseason exhibition schedule this afternoon as they travel to Division I Belmont University for a 4 p.m. contest. UM returns home this Saturday as the Falcons host Division I Alabama A&M for a 6 p.m. kick-off. The regular season begins Sept. 3 as the Falcons travel to Columbus, Ga. to take on the University of Tampa in a neutral site contest.
