Eighty-Two Montevallo Student-Athletes Named to 2010-11 Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo athletic department had 82 student-athletes named to the 2010-11 Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll. The 82 is an improvement of 17 over the 65 named last year to the Honor Roll from UM. Men’s soccer once again led all Montevallo teams with 18 members being named to the list. Women’s soccer finished in second with 14 while volleyball was third with 13. The Presidential Honor Roll recognizes all student-athletes at the 13 PBC member institutions who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic year.

Student-Athletes Join Fellow Classmates Helping the Local Community
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo hosted its first The Big Event on Saturday, March 26 to say thank you to the local community. Student-athletes from the University of Montevallo athletic department joined their classmates in the large community service project. The Big Event was founded at Texas A & M University in 1982 as a way to say thank you to the surrounding community. They envisioned a one day service event where students would thank the community that supports them by completing tasks at homes and businesses. The Big Event is now held each year at more than 70 universities across the country.

Fasanello Signs with Men’s Cross Country Team
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo men’s cross country head coach Michael Marquardt announced the signing of Nick Fasanello who will join the Falcons in the fall of 2011. Fasanello will come to Montevallo after graduating from Fairhope High School this spring.

Walsh Signs with Men’s Cross Country Team
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo men’s cross country head coach Michael Marquardt announced the signing of Zackery Walsh who will join the Falcons in the fall of 2011. Walsh will come to Montevallo after graduating from Hewitt-Trussville High School this spring.

Falcons Close Out Season at NCAA Southeast Region Race
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The University of Montevallo men’s cross country team sent three representatives to the NCAA Southeast Region Championship. Freshmen Mark McDonald (Auburn, Ala./Auburn), Matthew Corn (Brandon, Miss./Northwest Rankin) and Justin Arsement (Lafayette, La./Acadiana) all competed in the meet with McDonald leading the way.

Falcons Finish Seventh at PBC Championship
EVANS, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s cross country team finished seventh at its first ever Peach Belt Conference Championship race. UM was led by freshman Mark McDonald (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) who ran the 8k course with a time of 27:59.6. He finished in 30th place.

Falcons Finish Ninth at UAH Invitational
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men’s cross country team finished ninth at the University of Alabama-Huntsville Invitational. The University of West Alabama won the event followed by the host UAH. The Falcons top runner was freshman Mark McDonald (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) who finished 20th overall with a time of 27:58 which is the best time this season by any Falcon runner.

Falcons Finish Eighth at Foothills Invitational
OXFORD, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men’s cross country team finished eighth at the Foothills Invitational hosted by Jacksonville State University. UM was one of two Peach Belt Conference schools at the race. Clayton State University finished second at the event. The Falcons top runner was freshman Mark McDonald (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) who finished 33rd overall with a time of 29:21.18.

Falcons Finish Seventh at Gulf Coast Stampede
PENSACOLA, Fla. – The University of Montevallo men’s cross country team finished seventh at the Gulf Coast Stampede hosted by the University of West Florida. UM was the only Peach Belt Conference school at the race. The Falcons top runner was freshman Mark McDonald (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) who finished 14th overall with a time of 28:30 which was one second faster than his previous best.

Falcons Finish Fourth at Mercer
MACON, Ga. – For the second-straight race, the University of Montevallo men’s cross country team finished fourth. The Falcons competed against 12 other schools at the Mercer RunFit Sports Invitational in Macon, Ga. UM competed against two other Peach Belt Conference schools, Georgia College and Armstrong Atlantic State. GCSU finished second overall just two spots ahead of the Falcons while AASU finished ninth overall five spots behind the Falcons. The Falcons top runner was freshman Mark McDonald (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) who finished 17th overall with a time of 28:31.6 besting his previous top-time by over a minute.

Falcons Finish Fourth at Georgia Southwestern
AMERICUS, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s cross country team returned to action after a 43-year hiatus and finished fourth at the Georgia Southwestern Remembrance Race. UM competed against just one other Peach Belt Conference school, Columbus State. CSU finished first overall just three spots ahead of the Falcons. The Falcons top runner was freshman Mark McDonald (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) who finished 10th overall with a time of 29:43.1.

Falcons Add Three to New Men’s Cross Country Team
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo men’s cross country head coach Michael Marquardt announced the signing of three more recruits for the 2010 season. Nick Davidson, Adam Hansen-Weil, and Aaron Bush will all be part of the first men’s cross country team at UM since 1966.

Falcons Sign Four to New Men’s Cross Country Team
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo men’s cross country head coach Michael Marquardt announced the signing of four recruits for the 2010 season. Mark McDonald, Justin Arsement, Matthew Corn and Evan Brock will all be part of the first men’s cross country team at UM since 1966.

Montevallo to Reinstate Men’s Cross Country in 2010
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo Athletic Department announced today (Sept. 8) that men’s cross country will rejoin the Falcon athletic family beginning in the fall of 2010. With the addition of men’s cross country, Montevallo now offers 11 varsity sports.
