SAAC Hosts Third Annual Showdown
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of
Montevallo Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the
‘SAAC Showdown’ in aid of the Make-A-Wish-Foundation.
All proceeds went towards the Make-A-Wish-Foundation which works to
enrich the lives of children with life-threatening medical
conditions through its wish-granting work.
The event was headed by SAAC President Ruwaldt
Viljoen and advised by Associate Athletic Trainer
Jennifer Kramer and Senior Woman Administrator
Dawn Makofski. The ‘SAAC Showdown’
consisted of 12 teams, six more than last year, of six players
participating in five challenges including water balloon tossing,
egg tossing, hidden washer relay, plastic straw javelin and a water
bucket relay in which the students completed five dizzy bats spins
then raced down the field with a gallon jug containing holes, with
the aim to bring as much water back to their bucket.
The winners on the day were from the men’s soccer team who ran away with the competition winning all but one event.
The event raised just over $400 which brings the SAAC’s total to over $1300 for the year for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
