MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men’s and women’s golf teams donated their time and a helping hand to the Greater Birmingham Habitat for Humanity program on Saturday January 21. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit Christian housing ministry that revitalizes existing homes, but most importantly builds quality, affordable houses for those in need. Their central aim is to encourage family stability and promote self-sufficiency, while endorsing educational achievement and responsible citizenship.

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference hosted its fourth annual Women in Athletics Seminar on Thursday at Augusta State University to provide female student-athletes who may want to pursue a career in collegiate athletics the opportunity to interact with a wide range of professional women in sports. Over 100 female student-athletes from 16 schools and three conferences gathered for the event.

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Sophomore Mark McDonald (Auburn, Ala./Auburn) and freshman Zackery Walsh (Trussville, Ala./Hewitt-Trussville) of the University of Montevallo men’s cross country team were recently elected as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Peach Belt Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), respectively.

CLEVELAND – Twenty-four Montevallo student-athletes were honored by the Division II Athletics Directors Association for their academic achievements. The student-athletes were honored with the 2010-11 DII ADA Academic Achievement Awards.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo athletic department had 82 student-athletes named to the 2010-11 Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll. The 82 is an improvement of 17 over the 65 named last year to the Honor Roll from UM. Men’s soccer once again led all Montevallo teams with 18 members being named to the list. Women’s soccer finished in second with 14 while volleyball was third with 13. The Presidential Honor Roll recognizes all student-athletes at the 13 PBC member institutions who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic year.
