Sixty-Five Montevallo Student-Athletes Named to 2009-10 Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo athletic department had 65 student-athletes named to the 2009-10 Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll. Men’s soccer led all Montevallo teams with 13 members being named to the list. The Presidential Honor Roll recognizes all student-athletes at the 13 PBC member institutions who had a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the academic year.

Lewis Named Third Team All-Conference
AIKEN, S.C. Senior Alicia Lewis (Youngsville, La./Comeaux) of the University of Montevallo womens basketball team (14-13) was named Third Team All-Peach Belt Conference for the 2009-10 season. This is Lewis second All-Conference award after she was named First Team All-Gulf South Conference last season. This is the first PBC All-Conference award for the womens basketball program.

Falcons Fall in Overtime to Columbus State, 63-53
MONTEVALLO, Ala. The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (14-13, 7-10 PBC) fell in an overtime battle with Columbus State University (17-10, 11-6 PBC), 63-53. The Falcons used a late second half run to take a lead with 14 seconds left in regulation but a clutch three pointer by the Lady Cougars sent the game into overtime. The loss ended UMs hope of making it to back-to-back conference tournaments under second year head coach Brittney Ezell. UM finished with a winning record for the first time since the 2004-05 season and it is only the second time UM has had a winning record since joining the NCAA in 1996.

Late Second Half Run Downs Falcons, 64-54
MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (14-12, 7-9 PBC) dropped a hard fought contest with Georgia College and State University (19-7, 12-4 PBC) on the road, 64-54. UM was able to cut the Bobcat lead to just one point with 10:53 left in the game but a 13-0 run by GCSU dashed the Falcons hope for the upset. The Falcons were led by junior Carrie Parrott (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Siegel) who had 13 points and six rebounds. Senior Alex Sanabria (Miami, Fla./Miami) had 10 points, a team-high seven rebounds and three assists.

Falcons Topple No. 15 Clayton State, 65-60
MONTEVALLO, Ala. The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (14-11, 7-8 PBC) picked up one of its biggest wins of the season against 15th-ranked Clayton State University (19-6, 10-5 PBC). The Falcons used a late second-half run to take the lead and held off the Lakers in the final minutes to claim a huge 65-60 upset win. The victory also keeps the Falcons playoff hopes alive as they continue to be tied for the fourth and final spot in the Peach Belt Conference Western Division. UM also helped raise money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer with its Pink Zone event.

Falcons Set to Host Pink Zone Event
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Come out and support the University of Montevallo womens basketball team and also the Womens Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Saturday, February 20 at 1:30 p.m. as the Falcons host a Pink Zone game against Clayton State University. Pink Zone, formerly known as Think Pink, is a nationwide initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in womens basketball in the community and on campus.

Falcons Win Key PBC West Division Match-up with North Georgia, 62-58
DAHLONEGA, Ga. With the regular season winding down each game becomes more important for the University of Montevallo womens basketball team (13-11, 6-8 PBC). UM has won its last two contests including tonights 62-58 win on the road at North Georgia College and State University (9-13, 4-9 PBC). The win ends a three-way tie between UM, NGCSU and Georgia Southwestern. The Falcons are now tied for fourth in the Peach Belt Conference Western Division with Georgia Southwestern with three games to play. Only the top four teams from the division advance to the PBC Tournament.

Falcons Second Half Surge Leads to Victory over Lady Jags, 65-50
AUGUSTA, Ga. The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (12-11, 5-8 PBC) used a 31-8 run to open up the second half and pull away from host Augusta State University (1-23, 0-15 PBC). UM took down the Lady Jaguars 65-50 and were led by junior Shan Jones (Hartselle, Ala./Hartselle) who was a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor and 2-for-2 from three-point range while scoring a game-high 18 points. She also chipped in six rebounds including five offensive.

UM was led by seniors Manal Cali (Northampton, England/Northampton School for Girls), Amanda Scott (Cullman, Ala./West Point) and junior Shan Jones (Hartselle, Ala./Hartselle). All three scored 11 points each and grabbed four rebounds.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (11-10, 4-7 PBC) ended its five-game skid by dominating Georgia Southwestern State University (9-12, 4-7 PBC) and avenging an earlier loss, 70-53. The Falcons never trailed in the game and were led by junior Kristen Seigenthaler (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Siegel) who scored a career-high 20 points as she hit four three pointers and was 7-of-11 from the floor.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (10-8, 3-5 PBC) battled with UNC Pembroke (11-8, 5-5 PBC) the entire game as the two teams switched leads six times and never gave up a double-digit lead the entire contest. Pembroke used some key free throws down the stretch to take the 63-59 victory. The Falcons were paced by senior Alicia Lewis (Youngsville, La./Comeaux) who had 20 points and four assists. She hit six three pointers in the game which was more than the entire UNC Pembroke squad.

The Falcons outscored the Saints 31-14 in the first half and held Flagler to just 16.7 percent shooting from the floor in the period. MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (8-5, 1-2 PBC) got back to its winning ways picking up a hard-fought 70-59 victory over visiting North Georgia College and State University. The Falcons used a late first half comeback to take control of the game and never trailed again. The win is the first Peach Belt Conference win in program history and it also matches the Falcons win total from a season ago. UM was led by senior Alicia Lewis (Youngsville, La./Comeaux) who had 16 points off of five three-pointers. She also dished out three assists and grabbed four rebounds.

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (7-4, 0-1 PBC) took on its third-straight ranked opponent this afternoon (1/2) as the Falcons welcomed No. 21 Lander University (9-1, 2-0 PBC) to BankTrust Arena. The contest marked the first Peach Belt Conference contest for the womens basketball program at Montevallo. The Falcons once again used an impressive second half to battle their way back into a contest against a top-25 team but fell in the final minute.

Falcons Drop Another Tough Contest to No. 3 Delta State, 60-55
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (7-3) welcomed third-ranked Delta State University (11-0) into BankTrust Arena this afternoon (Dec. 30) for a rematch of a game played just 11 days earlier at DSU in which the Falcons fell just short of an upset, 66-59. The Lady Statesmen looked determined early in the game to shut the Falcons down and roll to another victory. It was the Falcons will and determination that allowed them to erase a 21-point lead and take a one-point advantage with just 6:42 left in the game. Both teams battled the final six minutes but the Lady Statesmen came away victorious, 60-55.

CLEVELAND, Miss. - The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (7-2) suffered only its second loss all season as the Falcons traveled to No. 3 Delta State University (10-0). The Falcons gave the Lady Statesmen all they could handle keeping the score close the entire game including tying the game with just under seven minutes to play. The game marked the first time all season the Lady Statesmen did not win by double-digits.

Falcons Suffer First Loss of the Season, 77-65
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. The University of Montevallo womens basketball team (3-1) received its first loss of the season as St. Leo University (4-0) defeated the Falcons 77-65 at the Eckerd Thanksgiving Classic. The Falcons played an even second half with the Lions but could not overcome an 11-point first half deficit. The Falcons were called for 22 fouls compared to SLUs 11 which led to a 24-6 advantage for the Lions at the free throw line.

Women's Basketball Holds Play Day for Child Study Center
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Head coach Brittney Ezell has enthusiastically taken on the challenge given to all Division II Colleges and Universities by the NCAA to increase their focus on community engagement, not just community service. In 2009, Division II is emphasizing the construction of lasting relationships with the community, in addition to the focus of previous years, helping groups and individuals in need. Last Wednesday (9/30) the University of Montevallo womens basketball team held a skills clinic for children from the Child Study Center located on campus.
