Falcons Set to Host Pink Zone Event
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Come out and support the University of Montevallo women's basketball team and also the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Saturday, February 20 at 1:30 p.m. as the Falcons host a Pink Zone game against Clayton State University. Pink Zone, formerly known as "Think Pink", is a nationwide initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women's basketball in the community and on campus.
Head coach Brittney Ezell is excited about this upcoming event.
"It hits close to home with a lot of our players," said Ezell. "All of them have been touched personally and affected in some way by breast cancer. It's nice for them to be able to get the chance to do something about it."
All supporters are encouraged to wear pink on Saturday in support of breast cancer awareness. In place of admissions for the game, donations will be taken and all profits will go to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Susan G. Komen and Athletes Kicking Cancer have donated t-shirts and informational packets for the games.
Tip-off for the women's game will be 1:30 p.m. and the men's game will follow beginning at 3:30 p.m.
