Vanderpool Signs Seymore for the 2010-11 Season
MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's basketball head coach Mechan Vanderpool has announced the signing of another recruit for the 2010-2011 season. Shavonne Seymore will join the Falcon program and be another piece of Vanderpool's first campaign at the helm of the Falcon program.
Seymore joins Montevallo as a junior after spending last season at Northwest Florida State College where she averaged 7.0 points per game and six rebounds. She was ranked the 74th JUCO prospect and 17th ranked forward in the nation, according to Collegiate Girls Report.
Before joining the Raiders, the 6-1 forward played one season at Bevill State before the program was cancelled. She was named First Team All-League and Second Team All-Region in the Alabama Community College Conference.
Seymore prepped at Hartsville High School in Hartsville, South Carolina. She was named All-State in her senior season and the recipient of the Coach's Award. The McBee, S.C. native was also a tremendous volleyball player and was named the Offensive Player of the Year.
