Gibson Leads Falcons at Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Tournament
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The University of Montevallo women's golf team opened up its spring schedule with a 13th place finish at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate Tournament, hosted by Tusculum College. The team finished 13th out of 17 teams with sophomore Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario) leading the team finishing tied for 19th out of a field of 84.
Day one saw Gibson struggle as she shot an 81 however she bounced back on day two, shooting 73, at just one over par and three shots behind the leading round of the day.
Montevallo's number two finisher was freshman Emma Breen (Swindon, England) who came in at 50th with a two round score of 166. Breen was closely followed by sophomore Heather Mutton (Dunstable, England) who came in 62nd with a two round score of 172.Junior Rachel Shaner (Madison, Alabama) rounded out the scorers finishing 68th, respectively, with a two round score of 176.
The next tournament of the spring schedule will see the Falcons compete in the Ann Rhodes Shootout hosted by Birmingham Southern College on Feb. 22-23.
