Gibson Finishes Tied for First at the Ann Rhoads Shootout

CALERA, Ala. - Sophomore Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario) of the University of Montevallo women's golf team finished tied for first in the Gold Division of the Ann Rhoads Shootout hosted by Birmingham Southern College. The Gold Division consisted of teams from NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA. Seven Division I squads competed as well and when ranked against all the competitors Gibson would have finished tied for third beating 40 D-I golfers.

The Falcons as a team finished fourth just nine strokes behind conference rival the University of West Florida. Gibson led all Gulf South Conference golfers including last year's GSC individual winner Natalia Espinosa of West Florida.

Freshman Emma Breen (Swindon, England) also finished ahead of Espinosa as she shot a two round 160 to finish 10^th. Sophomore Britney Martin (Fishers, Indiana) finished tied for 26^th while junior Rachel Shaner (Madison, Alabama) and sophomore Heather Mutton (Dunstable, England) finished 37^th and 38^th, respectively.

The next tournament for the Falcons is March 16-17 at the Samford University Intercollegiate.
