Falcons Finish Third at GSC Championship

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The University of Montevallo women's golf played in its final Gulf South Conference Championship finishing just two strokes out of second place with a team score of 652. The Falcons were paced by sophomores Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario) and Britney Martin (Fishers, Indiana) who finished tied for sixth with a two round score of 161. Freshman Emma Breen (Swindon, England) was just off their pace with a 162 and tied for 10th.
Sophomore Heather Mutton (Dunstable, England) finished tied for 15th with a 168. The Falcons final golfer was junior Laura Daugherty (Oak Mountain, Alabama) who finished 38th.
The Falcons finished third among the nine team field. Defending champions the University of West Florida took home the crown once again as the Argonauts won their four-straight team title. UWF's Bhavna Shetty took home the individual championship with a two round score of 154.
This concludes the Falcons 2008-09 season and their final season in the GSC. The Falcons will now move into the highly competitive Peach Belt Conference.
