Falcons Lead after First Day of Bubba Watson Invitational

PACE, Fla. - The University of Montevallo women's golf team finished day one of the Bubba Watson Invitational in first place. The Falcons are leading three top-25 teams from last season's National Golf Coaches Association Division II Poll.

Montevallo is in first with an overall score of 314 followed by No. 8 West Florida (321), No. 13 St. Edward's (322) and No. 10 Northeastern State (323).

Sophomore Britney Martin (Fishers, Indiana) is tied for first with an opening round 74 followed by freshman Emma Breen (Swindon, England) who shot a 77 and is tied for third. Sophomore Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario) is tied for seventh with 80 followed by Rachel Shaner (Madison, Alabama) and Heather Mutton (Dunstable, England) who sit at 22nd and 24th, respectively.

The team will return to action tomorrow, Sept. 23 for the final round of the Bubba Watson Invitational.
