Falcons Finish Third at Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate
LITTLE RIVER, S.C. - The University of Montevallo women's golf team continued its impressive fall season taking third at the Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. The Falcons outlasted 12 teams including host Lenoir-Rhyne University and Gulf South Conference member the University of West Georgia.
Sophomore Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario) led the way for the Falcons finishing tied for fourth overall with a two-round score of 159. Gibson also was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
Just one stroke off Gibson was freshman Emma Breen (Swindon, England) who shot a 160 and finished tied for seventh. Junior Rachel Shaner (Madison, Alabama) came in just one stroke behind Breen with a 161 finishing tied for 11th.
The final two scorers for the Falcons were sophomores Britney Martin (Fishers, Indiana) and Heather Mutton (Dunstable, England). Martin finished tied for 33rd while Mutton came in tied for 58th.
As a team the Falcons finished third behind Wingate University and Queens University of Charleston.
The Falcons will be back in action Monday, October 27 as they begin play at the Flagler Fall Slam in St. Augustine, Fla.
