Gibson Named PBC Women’s Golfer of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Junior Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate) of the University of Montevallo women's golf team was named Peach Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week. This is the first PBC Golfer of the Week honor for both the team and Gibson.

Gibson won the Newberry College Invitational this past weekend. The tournament field featured three other PBC schools including Armstrong Atlantic, UNC Pembroke and Columbus State. Gibson was the only golfer to shoot a round below 80 and she did it in both rounds. Her final score was four strokes better than her nearest competitor and 10 strokes better than the nearest PBC golfer. This was Gibson's third top-10 finish of the season in only her third tournament. She helped lead the Falcons to their best tournament finish so far this season as well. She had a first round score of 78 and a second round score of 79.

The Falcons will return to action at the Birmingham Southern Ann Rhoads Invitational on Feb. 22-23. The tournament will take place at Timberline in Calera, Ala.
