Gibson Named PBC Women’s Golfer of the Week

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Junior Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate) of the University of Montevallo women’s golf team was named Peach Belt Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the third time in the past four weeks. This is the third PBC Golfer of the Week honor for both the team and Gibson.

Gibson wins her third weekly award after a stellar showing at the Division I-laden Samford Women’s Intercollegiate.  The junior fired rounds of 76-73-76 for a nine-over-par 225, finishing tied for eighth in the 58-player field.  Gibson was tied with Jacksonville State’s Lucia Fernandez and finished ahead of golfers from South Alabama, Samford, Louisana-Monroe, Evansville and Tennessee Tech.  Her second round 73 tied for the second-lowest round fired in the Peach Belt Conference this season and is the second time she has accomplished the feat.  She currently leads the PBC with a 75.2 stroke average.

The Falcons will return to action at the University of West Georgia Invitational on March 22-23.
