Gibson Captures Third Individual Title of 2010

VILLA RICA, Ga. – Junior Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate) picked up her third tournament win on Tuesday (3/23) as she bested the field of 40 competitors at the University of West Georgia Invitational. The Falcons as a team finished third in the eight-team field. UM defeated PBC-foe Columbus State University by 44 strokes and fished just eight strokes out of first place.

 

Gibson dominated the field as she finished eight strokes ahead of her nearest competitor. She had a two-round total of 150 just six strokes over par. Sophomore Emma Breen (Swindon, England/Kingsdown) finished in fourth place with a scored of 166. Freshman Kaylee Hale (Dothan, Ala./Northside Methodist) finished 25th with a score of 191 while freshman Kayla Witt (Gardendale, Ala./Gardendale) finished 27 and just five strokes behind Hale.

 

The final UM golfer was senior Rachel Shaner (Madison, Alabama/Bob Jones) who recently rejoined the team. Shaner finished in 31st place.  

 

The Falcons will return to action this weekend at the SCAD Invitational in Savannah, Ga.
