Gibson Picks Up Fourth PBC Womens Golfer of the Week Award
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Junior Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate) of the University of Montevallo women’s golf team was named Peach Belt Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the fourth time in the past five weeks. This is the fourth PBC Golfer of the Week honor for both the team and Gibson. The only week in the past five in which Gibson has not been named PBC Golfer of the Week was the one week the Falcons were not in action.
Gibson continued her outstanding play by winning the West Georgia Invitational earlier this week. The junior fired rounds of 74 and 76 to run away with the event, finishing eight strokes ahead of second-place Whitney Ohlhausen of Harding University. The win is Gibson’s third of the year and helped the Falcons to a third-place finish in the eight-team event, their best team result of the season. Gibson has now won three of the last four tournaments she has played in and has top-five finishes in five of her six events on the season. Gibson continues to lead the PBC in stroke average at 75.2 and has six of the lowest eight rounds shot in the conference this season, including her 74 in the first round at West Georgia.
The Falcons will return to action this weekend at the SCAD Invitational in Savannah, Ga.
