Gibson Selected to Compete in NCAA Super Regional
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Junior Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate) of the University of Montevallo women’s golf team was recently selected to compete in the NCAA South Super Regional on May 2-4. Gibson is the first UM golfer to be selected to a NCAA Super Regional and is only one of two golfers selected from the Peach Belt Conference.
The 2010 NCAA Division II women’s golf super regional competition will be conducted May 2-4. Each super regional will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with nine teams and four individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. All participants will compete throughout the 54 holes of competition. The top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team from each super regional will advance to the championships.
Gibson was one of just four golfers selected as individuals to compete in the South Region. Kelsey Babos from Catawba, Kaitlyn Edwards from Flagler and Ashley Denton from Wingate were the other three individuals selected.
Gibson has won four tournaments this year including the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. She was also named the Peach Belt Golfer of the Year earlier this season.
Gibson will return to action May 2-4 at the NCAA South Super Regional in Salisbury, N.C. at the Country Club of Salisbury.
