Falcons Finish Fourth at BSC Shootout

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women’s golf team finished tied for fourth at the Birmingham Southern College Southern Shootout out of a field of 17 teams. UM was one of three Peach Belt Conference teams at the event. Columbus State University won the tournament while North Georgia finished tied for 11th. UM was led by senior Emily Gibson (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate) who finished in third with a two-round score of 144 just four over par.

Columbus State golfer Nikki Crowley won the event with an even par 140. Junior Emma Breen (Swindon, England/Kingsdown) finished next for the Falcons tied for 23rd with a score of 159. Senior Heather Mutton (Dunstable, England/Queensbury Upper) who was playing as an individual finished tied for 30th with a score of 161.

The next two UM golfers tied for 37th as both Francie Caradine (Decatur, Ala./Austin) and Tracey Marshall (Newfields, N.H./Heritage Academy) shot a 164. Two strokes back was freshman Hilary Shaner (Madison, Ala./Bob Jones) who shot a 166 and finished tied for 43rd. The final two UM golfers both shot a 173 as Kira Chaudhry (Columbiana, Ala./Shelby County) and Kayla Witt (Mt. Olive, Ala./Gardendale) tied for 58th.

UM will wrap up their fall season Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the Flagler Fall Slam in St. Augustine, Fla.
