Stolworthy’s Second Half Goal Gives Falcons Conference Opening Tie

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - A goal midway through the second half by freshman Nicola Stolworthy (Belton, England/Cliff Park) gave the University of Montevallo women's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-0-1 PBC) a tie in its Peach Belt Conference season opener against Flagler College (3-1-1, 0-0-1 PBC).

The Falcons fell behind in the 62nd minute of the game as Tiffany Urquhart converted on a penalty kick after a UM foul inside the penalty area. Stolworthy would right the ship just six minutes later as fellow freshman Jade Skillen (New Market, England/West Suffolk) passed her the ball for a shot past the keeper. The goal marked the first of Stolworthy's career at Montevallo.

The Falcons were out-shot 24-15 but made the most off their shots winning the battle in shots on goal 6-5. Freshman Alyssa Maxwell (Surrey, British Columbia/Semiahmoo) went the entire 110 minutes in goal making four saves. Her lone blemish was the penalty kick.

Freshman Jenna Kuzemski (Victoria, British Columbia/Belmont) led the team in shots with four while Stolworthy and Skillen each had three.

The Falcons will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 1:30 p.m. as they travel to the University of Alabama-Huntsville for a non-conference match-up.
