Falcons Dominate Tuskegee, 8-1

TUSKEGEE, Ala. - The University of Montevallo tennis team (3-3) evened out its record with a strong performance against region rival Tuskegee University. The Falcons won eight of the nine matches played and were led by junior Kristi Kelly (Tallahassee, Florida) and freshman Helene Nordgreen's (Bergen, Norway) sweep of the No. 2 doubles 8-0.

Junior Alex Mangum (San Antonio, Texas) partnered with classmate Emily Blackwood (Cullman, Alabama) to win the No. 1 doubles 8-6 while freshman Ashlyn Bolton (Chattanooga, Tennessee) and sophomore Kelley Vaughn (Hoover, Alabama) won the No. 3 doubles 8-6 as well.

Mangum, Nordgreen, Blackwood and Bolton won in straight sets in their singles matches while Kelly dropped her first set 6-3 before storming back and winning the second set 6-2 and the tiebreak 10-4.

The Falcons will now head to Georgia Southwestern State University and Albany State University on Friday, Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
