Falcons Fall in Season Finale to North Alabama, 5-4
MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo tennis team (10-9, 1-4 GSC East) finished up its season with a 5-4 loss at home to the University of North Alabama (8-9, 3-2 GSC East). The Falcons wrap up their best season since 2003 when they finished 12-7. The Falcons finish fifth in the East Division just one spot outside the conference tournament.
The Falcons were led by freshman Ashlyn Bolton (Chattanooga, Tennessee) who was leading 6-3, 1-0 before her opponent retired due to the Tigers clinching the match. All four Montevallo wins came due to forfeit by the Tigers who were one player short when entering the match.
The Falcons return all six of their starting lineup next season and loss just one player to graduation, Dorothy Sherman (Bay Minette, Alabama). UM will look to build on their first winning season since 2003 next year in one of the toughest tennis conferences in the nation, the Peach Belt Conference.
