Falcons Play Five Matches in Five Days

MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo women's tennis team (3-3, 1-2 PBC) recently wrapped up a five-match five day road trip. The Falcons captured three match victories while dropping two. UM captured wins over Albany State, Fort Valley State and Georgia Southwestern. The GSW win was the first Peach Belt Conference victory in program history. Sophomore Helene Nordgreen (Bergen, Norway/Bergen Handels Gymnasium) led the Falcons as she went 4-1 in her five singles matches this week.

UM opened the road trip with a 9-0 win over Albany State on the 19th. They then traveled to Fort Valley State on the 20th and won 8-1. Later in the afternoon on the 20th the Falcons headed to Georgia Southwestern and captured a 6-3 win. A day later the traveled to No. 8 Columbus State and fell 9-0. The final match of the trip was on the 23 as the Falcons traveled to the University of Alabama-Huntsville and fell 7-2.

The pair of Nordgreen and Calli Robinson (Adel, Ga./Cook) was 2-0 on the week in doubles as was the pair of Kodi Bobo (Cullman, Ala./West Point) and Alex Mangum (San Antonio, Texas/John Marshall).

Bobo also had a strong singles week as she went 3-1. Mangum and Robinson each went 3-2.

The women's tennis team returns to action February 27 as they host their home opener against North Georgia at 10 a.m.
